I grew up watching Dragon Ball Z Dragon Ball Z Kai is just a edited slimmed-down version they cut out a lot of filler especially in the fight scenes animation is better than the original but the original Dragon Ball Z is still good to watch. Toei has redubbed recut and cleaned up the animation of the original 1989 animated series. Not a bad idea actually. If youre itching to watch in the original Japanese then watch Z.

First off Dragon Ball Z Kai doesnt include anything from Dragon Ball which is the story of Goku as a child. In regards to what Kai does right the visual presentation is largely an improvement with a relatively seamless reformat to widescreen versus the original Dragon Ball Zs 43 aspect ratio. Legendary Super Saiyan Fennekin 3262020. It is plagued by fillers inconsistent dubbing script changes and a slightly lower resolution. With that said if your watching in English definitely watch Kai.

I would read the manga first if possible then decide. I would say Z but its your choice. For certain DBZ has its flaws.

Dragon Ball Z will always have the upper hand when it comes to nostalgia offering a more relatable yet warped westernized version of the legendary Japanese show while Dragon Ball Z Kai gets to the point faster keeps the original script and the quality is slightly better. You should watch Kai first and then revisit the original DBZ some other time. Dragon Ball Kai isnt just the best version of Dragon Ball Z its the only version of Dragon Ball Z anyone should ever watch for anything other than purely nostalgic reasons.
